Secondary Schools prepare students for future success in education, employment or training.  We use the Gatsby Benchmarks, link below, to assess all aspects of our careers “offer” to our students. Our most recent assessment took place in July 2023, and our overall average for the 8 benchmarks was 93%, up from 88% in March 2023. Strengths highlighted included Personal Guidance, Experiences of workplaces, and a stable careers programme. We will carry out a new assessment prior to the 2023 Christmas holiday, and publish a brief summary of the results.

Work Experience (Gatsby Benchmarks 3, 5, 6)

At Granville Academy, we provide our Year 10 students with the opportunity to carry out a week's work experience in the summer term. Following Covid restrictions being lifted, our Year 10 students were able to go out on a placement to a variety of providers/roles a some of which are below: 

  • Conkers, Assistant Ranger

  • Primary School Assistant at several primary schools

  • Events Assistant

  • Motor Vehicle Mechanic with several local garages
