Apprenticeships, (post 16 & degree level)
Back to CareersInformation and Guidance relating to post 16 pathways, levels of qualifications etc. (Gatsby benchmarks 2, 3, 8)
Apprenticeships: A popular choice with school leavers, due to the variety of apprenticeships on offer to school leavers. It offers a combination of paid employment and education/training. After Christmas of Year 11 some employers begin advertising apprenticeships, aimed at school leavers. Similar to applying for a job, an application to an apprenticeship isn’t a guaranteed place, as there are often lots of applicants for one of two apprenticeship vacancies. With this in mind, we always advise students to apply to college or Sixth form as a backup. Here is the Government apprenticeship website, which has live vacancies on, and any that have a possible start date of 1st July 2023 or after being suitable for our current Year 11s. Students will need to create an account on this secure site in order to apply for apprenticeship vacancies. Apprenticeships are offered at GCSE level up to University degree level. Mr C Lambeth, Careers Lead, will also promote/advertise apprenticeships in the local area to our Year 11 students for apprenticeships that have a start date of July 1st or after for the year they leave school. Students can apply before they leave school, but legally can't start an apprenticeship before this date.
